What is Kambo?
Kambo, known as the vaccine of the forest, is a medicine that comes from The Giant Tree Monkey Frog in South America. The legend of Kambo is a beautiful tale. It is said that there once was a medicine man who lived in a village in Brazil. In his village, everyone became sick. After unsuccessfully trying all the medicinal plants to help his people he went to see Mama Ayahuasca, The Grandmother Plant. Mama Ayahuasca showed him the frog and its healing properties and said, you must become the medicine to heal your people. He then turned himself into the frog and multiplied himself over and over. When he returned from his journey, he went looking into the forest for the frog. He extracted the sweat from the frog and placed it on his people and they began to recover.

Kambo is not a psychedelic drug, it is a detox medicine. It is a medicine that can be used to help assist in the purging of disease. It is believed to clear disease on all levels: spiritually, emotionally, mentally and physically. It has also been discovered that kambo is one of the strongest natural anti-inflammatory medicines, as well as being one of the most potent antibiotics, antimicrobial, and anesthetic substances found in the world. Some of the research states that kambo is one of the most effective, and strongest ways to naturally strengthen the immune system. In addition to all this, kambo also detoxes the liver, the lymphatic system, and the intestines.(1)
A kambo ceremony lasts about 1 hour with the medicine only on you for about 15min. The medicine consists of peptides, which wraps around your cells acting as a natural barrier. There are a wide range of compounds and peptides that are found within Kambo. Peptides bind to receptor sites on the outer surface of biological cells, and this binding serves a variety of functions in the body and brain. Often they act as a form of message or signal, causing the cell to change what it’s doing. For example to manufacture and release more of a particular hormone or neurotransmitter, or the opposite. In this way they can influence a variety of biological processes, ranging from moods and thought patterns in the brain to muscle contractions and digestion in the body. (2) It is believed to have a lasting effect to aid in boosting natural immunity to virus and disease.
Some say that the frog has it’s own intelligence. It comes into the body and seeks out where you need the most relief. It will cause the body to purge this. Purging happens within the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual, which could mean vomiting, screaming or crying. Kambo is a warrior medicine. Part of ceremony is to sit with yourself and face what you need to face. It allows you to let it go through purging and leave with a new found sense of strength.
An Italian scientist, Vittorio Erspamer, of the University of Rome was the first to analyze Kambo in the lab. Vittorio Erspamer was twice nominated for a nobel prize and was also responsible for first discovering the well known neurotransmitter Serotonin. Erspamer concluded that Kambo contains a ‘fantastic chemical cocktail with potential medical applications, unequalled by any other amphibian’. (2)
Kambo has the ability, unlike many other natural and pharmaceutical substances, to cross the blood-brain barrier, enabling it to reach deep into the body and bring support to otherwise difficult to treat areas. Human cells open up to the beneficial properties of Kambo unlike many substances that are filtered and eliminated by the body’s highly intelligent defense system. (3)
World Wide Purge
Many spiritual people believe that what is happening in the world right now is a world wide purge that is needed to be released. We are experiencing purging in different ways on this Earth; Environmentally, spiritually and morally. The more we purge and relieve ourselves of old energy, we naturally create healing. Plant medicine is not a cure, however is a tool that we have access too that we can utilize for ourselves.
People who are called to Kambo can begin to see frogs, feel a longing to release and face things you need to feel or are just curious about this medicine.
